Julianna Ryan elected to national TECA position

Julianna Ryan is a sophomore enrolled as a technology education major while also pursuing a minor in psychology. Currently, Julianna is the Technology Educators Society (TES) executive treasurer. After a successful trip to Virginia Beach for the Technology Educators Collegiate Association’s (TECA) Eastern Regional competition, Julianna and the rest of her team placed first in the Manufacturing Competition. Julianna was interested in furthering her service to the profession and was encouraged by her professors here at the College to run for a TECA national board position.

In the beginning of December, Julianna sent in her application for TECA’s National Executive Board Secretary. Her short biography and picture were published the following month in a national publication available to all TECA members. Julianna was then elected by her peers from across the nation to be the 2011-2012 National Secretary. Next month, a handful of students from the Technological Studies department will join Julianna at the International Technology and Engineering Educators Association’s 73rd Annual conference. At this conference the students representing TCNJ will compete in a variety of competitions while supporting Julianna as she is inducted into national office.

As secretary, Julianna will be responsible for the recording and distributing of meeting minutes, operational plan, and proposals to the TECA Management Board. Along with being responsible for keeping a complete record of all written correspondence and activity reports pertaining to all TECA yearly endeavors and assist with preparation of the annual report. Among other responsibilities that Julianna will be in charge of for the following year, her first responsibility will be to attend a leadership development program in North Carolina this summer where TECA’s national executive board will prepare for an exciting year ahead.  Additionally, at the summer meeting, they will participate in team-building activities such as white water rafting, spelunking, and hiking.
