The Center for Excellence in STEM Education, led by Dr. Tanner Huffman and housed within the School of Engineering at The College of New Jersey, was awarded a new, 12-month grant for $444,000 from the New Jersey Department of Education’s “Computer Science for All: Expanding Professional Learning” program. The new grant funding will be utilized to build on the success of the team’s year one efforts where they launched the Central New Jersey Computer Science Education Hub thanks to an initial award of $333,000.  During the first year of the Hub, they successfully conducted 24 workshops, providing comprehensive training to 173 educators from 142 schools touching the lives of over 30,000 students throughout the region.

“Our goal is to increase equitable access to high-quality Computer Science Education to K-12 students across New Jersey. For the 2023-2024 school year, we have in store a multitude of elementary, middle, and high school professional learning opportunities for educators, outreach events dedicated to engaging Central New Jersey in Computer Science, initiatives to expand the CS teacher workforce in New Jersey, and more.”
