The Integrative STEM (iSTEM) Summer Academy challenges middle school and high school students to be problem solvers. Through hands-on learning across the STEM disciplines, students will be challenged to think creatively as they design and innovate their own unique solutions, fabricate prototypes, and prepare for their future careers!
Week 1 – July 7th to July 11th, 2025
Middle School Offering
iSTEM MakerCraft – In MakerCraft, middle school students are challenged to be creative innovators. By fostering a maker mentality, students will learn to fabricate with their hands as they bring their ideas to life! MakerCraft is an action packed week with a number of real-world design challenges from the STEM fields, like building catapults, making rockets, or designing vehicles and machines! Students will also get to use machines in TCNJ’s manufacturing facilities, such as 3D printers, and keep everything they create! iSTEM MakerCraft is offered both weeks of the iSTEM Summer Academy, but the activities and projects offered will be different from week to week.
High School Offering
iSTEM Creative Design – In Creative Design, high school students will be immersed in TCNJ’s manufacturing facilities as they learn to design and fabricate using a wide range of prototyping resources. From 3D printers to lasers or milling machines, students will be challenged to bring their own innovative ideas to life through a variety of open-ended design challenges across the week. We’ll engage with modeling and graphic design techniques, as well as learn to create our own tech, which of course students get to take home!
Week 2 – July 14th to July 18th, 2025
Middle School Offering

High School Offering
iSTEM Robotics – In Robotics, high school students learn what it takes to design and fabricate their own robot! In addition to learning the tools and techniques to create a robot, students will be challenged to think outside the box as their robot must compete in a series of collaborative competitions throughout the week! This course fosters creativity and problem solving, as well as allows for students to engage in real-world engineering, electronic, and computer science concepts while making a robot that they get to keep!
